TSW Residence

Our women’s residence program will operate out of an 1893 Victorian mansion which has been lying dormant for several years.  It is 8,000sq ft with 23 rooms on 3 acres of lawnspace.

Over the past four years countless volunteers have put their hearts, hands and sweat into renovating this facility, restoring many of architectural features and modernizing the amenities to suit our program needs.  Most recently, Sherwin Williams provided all the product and local decorative artists provided pro bono talent to customize each room on the community floor with a unique wall treatment.

Some of the Residence features under renovation include:

Grand Foyer – The stately entrance is a step back to the Turn of the Century with all the decorative wood  trim, pocket doors, majestic fireplace, pristine mahogany staircase and stained glass windows.  Local decorative artists have been working on a ceiling motif that reinforces the period of this house.

Parlor – We’ll use this room as the formal dining room, but it will also double as a classroom to reach such skills as table dressing and serving.

Library – The room is being meticulously restored to rival any Ivy League school library, while also offering modern educational technology to support the education needs of our residents.

St Mary’s Chapel – The former servant’s quarters has been remodeled and rededicated to serve as our chapel, a place where our women can pray, meditate, praise, and find solace.

Day Kitchen – The house’s original kitchen will serve our residents for their day-to-day meals.  It’s been upgraded with contemporary appliances, center island, drop in sink,  stovetop, and plenty of cabinet space.

Culinary Kitchen – The former Billiard Room is going to be transformed into a state-of-the-art culinary kitchen and classroom for our culinary arts vocational program.

Residence Floors – There are 7 double bedrooms and 1 single bedroom, most of which have large windows with a unique view of the grounds.  Most also have fireplaces that will be decorative-only. The Residence Floor also has two bathroom facilities

The Studio – This private space for the residents is where they can enjoy art therapy and crafts during their leisure time.

Basement – It is our plan to renovate the basement into a variety of functional areas including: laundry facilities, dry goods and tool storage, weight room, walk-in refrigerator, and canning station.
